Smithers Butchers is run by Steve Smither and his wife Kelly. They are assisted by Owen and Ross and it is very much a family business.
Steve has been a butcher for over 30 years, having trained at Smithfield College, and has run both wholesale and retail butchers, and worked at abattoirs both here and in Australia.
He ran a highly successful retail shop in Mayfield for many years.
Steve and his team now concentrate on private cutting from their family farm at Horam, on which they run a beef herd.
The family also raise both lambs and pigs, meaning that they have a deep understanding of the whole lifecycle from birth to finished product.
Steve also judges at agricultural shows, and this year judged the finished pig entries at the prestigious South of England show.
Steve and the team know how important it is that your meat is expertly butchered to your exact requirements, and packaged correctly for both presentation and good storage.
